Caracas

Carel drove the Venezuelan Grand Prix in 1957. During his stay in and around Caracas he met the Van Embden family. Since then he came back to Venezuela to visit the family on regular basis, and used their address at the Avenida General Francisca de Miranda for his racing team and other companies.

His road cars also carried Venezuelan license plates. Using the Venezuelan address he paid none to little taxes, which was useful when he started trading in exclusive sports and racing cars in 1964.

When he drove races in North America or Mexico he never forgot to pay the Van Embdens a visit.
